How to stay efficient in a Social Media World

I strongly believe in social media and its benefits! Many people I encounter say “twitter” is dumb, “facebook” takes too much time, “Linked-In” doesn’t link me, “Blogging” is never found so why bother!

Well, it might be the fact that you either A) may be doing it wrong or B) not doing it enough or maybe both! Originally I though that blogging was a waste of time! Who would want to listen to me talk about staging or decorating or what happened at my last presentation?? But in reality people like to hear what you have to say, espeically if it has some sort of relevance to there industry!

How many of you say Tweeting, Facebook, & Blogging takes up sooo much time that it wastes time for you to find new clients?? That is because you are not utilizing applications that are designed to make you more efficient. Thanks to @Ribeezie on Twitter he was at the 2010 RESA confrence where I learned many ways to make me efficient in the social media world!

Being on social media is NOT designed to instantly generate business if that is your motivation then stop right now! Being on social media is so you can meet people, establish “meet-up’s” and get to know each other on a more personal level so you can begin to trust and develop relationships with them. It is VERY important for people to KNOW who they are dealing with prior to referring them, because reputation is everything and if you send out a bad referral that reflects poorly on yourself.

So how do you stay on top of social media and NOT go crazy???

Try to automate your tweets through out the week to help with the public appearance of you always being there while you are still focusing on working. There are many applications out there that are designed to help! But be sure you do check twitter daily so you can reply to DM’s or Hashtaging if applicable. Also down loading an app for your cell phone helps tremendiously, this is because it allows you to tweet or update on the fly! If your sitting in your car waiting for Mc.Donalds then tweet away utilize your time!

I also use a program that helps me POST my blogs, to ALL of my social media’s so I’m not doing it 100 times I type it once and it spreads it to ALL of my media outlets! Such as THIS blog for example is being sent out and its going to make it to all of my outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Linked in, YouTube, Wordpress, Blogger, etc etc etc. This saves SOOO MUCH TIME and allows me to connect with all my outlets easily to keep in touch with my friends, clients, and furture business associates.

WHAT do you do to stay on top of YOUR social media relations?

If you want to know the specific applications I use just send me a message on any of the social media’s listed and I’ll be sure to let you know.

The Art of Pique Assiette

I recently picked up my March 2010 issue of Style At Home and perused the pages hoping to find some design inspiration. I have to say this particular issue blew me away. I love the fact that S@H has such a diverse selection from design ideas and even art projects. One that stood out to me was an article called “Pretty In Pique.” It was just a one-pager brief snippet of info and picture of the art form called ‘pique assiette.’ Boy, did it ever catch my attention. Now for all of those googling “pique assiette” to find out what it is, let me save you some time.

Pique assiette, in itself, is an art form. Defined as a type of mosaic, pique uses broken pieces of dish, tile, glass, pottery and ceramic to arrange intricate configurations of pattern. The real beauty of this art is that it can be used on a wide range of surfaces varying from unique counter tops to exceptionally beautiful and personal pieces of art. It is documented to have originated in 1930’s France by Raymond Edouard Isadore, loosely meaning “stolen from plate.” Isadore spent his life covering every surface of his house and garden in “stolen from plate,” transforming his home into a popular tourist attraction to this very day. (“Maison Picassiette” in Paris, France)

I have to admit, upon my research on the topic I found not all pique assiette creations were to my personal style or liking. In fact, when I have seen pique in real life (without realizing its name, origins, or its point, for that matter), in most cases it looked too “kitschy” or just “not right.” This being before the realization that pique assiette is wholly an individual expression of significance. Significance in the recycled objects found and placed into the design and the significance of capturing a personal touch. What a find!
Happy decorating!

"Purple House Transformation- B&A Guest Bedroom"

Well some of you may know of my puple house transformation!

Here finally is the second guest bedroom. Essentially this space is rarely used and since I did not want to redecorate again when we decide to move I’ve decided to “Stage to Live”. I took all of my staging principles and applied them to this room so when it comes time to sell I’m A-OK! I’m sure with time my own storage items will creep its way into this space so it’s a good thing I’m a professional stager!

The room was decorated by the previous home owners (now you can really see why this house was on the market for 6 months!!) The wall paper, older décor & really scary dolls everywhere (probably only an issue to myself because of watching the movie CHUCKY!) anyways my first task at hand was to remove the wallpaper and lucky me there was layers and layers and layers of it going on and on! Which took about 2-3 weeks for us to just remove then we had 1 more week to fix the holes in the wall that we made by using putty applicators as scrapers. Thanks to my best friend Mela & my mother the majority of this annoying job was done by them! (THANK YOU!!! Now you may stay for free, you’ve earned your keep!)

Once the wallpaper was down and the wall fixed from our hole making I decided to paint the majority of this room a “Antique Linen” colour and the back wall by the window a “Seal Gray” my accent colour is the bright red in the fitted bed sheets as well as art & accessories you can not see in this picture.

Considering this space took a good portion of 2 months for me to finish (business comes first!) I am very excited and happy that it is completed.

Stay tuned for more “Purple House Transformation” we still have the Kitchen & eating nook, Sititng Room, Office, Master bedroom, to show you!

Called "Ottawa's Go-To Company"

Today has been quite a day I am pleased to say!

I have received about 10 phone calls many of them interested in our staging services and booking appointments. I did have a “New” agent call me (one I have not worked with before) and start to ask me questions about my company, packges, pricing, and more. Once I finished answering all of his questions I asked him “May I ask how you have heard of us?” and he replied “I asked a bunch of agents that I knew and I also checked out your web page and liked the presentation and you seem to be the –Go To- Company for Home Staging in Ottawa”

FABULOUS! That is our goal, to be Ottawa’s go-to company for home staging for all realtors & home owners alike!
